Holidays are my favorite time of year but I find myself wishing the chaos would calm down so I can sneak in some R&R. Here’s my toolkit to get chill time between decking the halls and planning the NYE bash.
Shower and Nap. Carve out an hour or two for a hot shower followed by a refreshing nap. It’s a great way to refill your energy tank and get back into the holiday hustle, refreshed and ready to go. I especially love indulging in this activity on the weekends after a long stretch of packed week days.
Chill Beats. If I’m feeling wound up, I have some go-to playlists (my fave is Daily Lift on Spotify) that give me positive energy and background beats while doing a stretch or tackling the holiday to-do list. To get into the season, make your own playlist with a combo of chill hits and acoustic holiday music.
Quiet Time. Quiet the craziness with an “adult time-out” as I like to call it. Put away devices, turn off electronics, and relax with slow sips of a favorite wine or hot beverage and some fun reading material (hello, Bon Appetit magazine). This is especially welcomed on a cold day when you can don sweats and bundle up in a cozy fleece.
Play Catch-up. You know that old bud you’ve been meaning to reconnect with? Why not carve out a moment to catch up this holiday? Taking a few minutes to chat on the phone and reminisce will give you the warm fuzzies and some time to escape the holiday hustle-bustle.
Enjoy these little breaks to get you through a no-fuss holiday season. And if you’re still feeling sluggish, then why not take five and do a quick indoor workout? (Yup, you knew that was coming.)
