Ahh, the life of a hustler. Working long hours at a day job, carving out time for side gigs, and balancing a social life and self-care. How to maintain sanity (and a workout routine) with a jam-packed schedule? Here at G MOVES, we crush days like we crush wall sits. Using strength, focus, and positive energy. With our tips below, you'll dominate your days like a beast.
Meal Prep. Prepare and divide large batches of food - like chili, pasta salad, or roasted vegetables - into individual containers for meals during the week. Get creative and mix it up so you don’t get bored. Eat chili with whole wheat macaroni and sprinkle with cheese, or stuff in a sweet potato with a dab of sour cream. Pack roasted vegetables in a tortilla with hummus and sliced avocado, or add to quinoa and top with feta cheese. (We’re getting hungry thinking of possibilities.) No such thing as making too much - just freeze whatever you don’t feel like eating that week.
Stick to a Schedule. Figure out your “productivity rhythm,” i.e. the times when you’re most alert and can focus on the task at hand. Schedule uninterrupted 30-minute sessions to tear through priorities. Put your phone away and use a timer to stay focused. Create daily routines like writing a to-do list in the AM, going for an evening jog, and adhering to a bedtime. Reward yourself for sticking to your schedule with a coffee break or an episode of Friends.
Find Your Plan Groove. The G MOVES duo loves to write down everything from grocery lists to goals. Putting pen to paper frees up head space, and physically checking stuff off a list is darn satisfying. Get a stylish notebook or durable day planner to tote on the regular. (Hint: make sure it fits in your bag). Regularly refer to your planner to stay on track, and develop a highlight or marking system to denote important stuff. Rather plan on the iPhone? Lots of cheap planner apps to use.
Multi-task Wisely. Love the daily grind. Use your work commute time to study, read, or listen to a podcast. Seize moments waiting in line to reply to emails, catch up on news, or solidify weekend plans. Make phone calls while folding laundry, dusting shelves, walking to the store, or stretching. Got just five extra minutes? Take advantage.
Get Some Help. Utilize cost-effective services like Handy, TaskRabbit, or Instacart for house-cleaning, furniture assembly, and grocery shopping so you can make headway on your side projects or recharge with a glass of wine and a magazine. Schedule automatic payments for regular bills and charges, and sign up for an online regular delivery cycle to replenish need-to-have goods ranging from protein powder to toilet paper.
With all the time saved using these hacks, there’s really no excuse to skip boot camp.
